ROSK & LOSTE

Due artisti siciliani che, attraverso la tecnica del graffito, uniscono da sempre la pittura figurativa alla street art. Iniziano il loro percorso artistico quasi contemporaneamente incrociandosi per la prima volta nel 2004. Il 2007 è un anno importante per entrambi, fatto di collaborazioni positive e dipinti realizzati per tutta la Sicilia e non solo; al ritorno di un viaggio compiuto in Spagna, la conoscenza del celebre artista Belin cambierà per sempre il loro modo di percepire la pittura: morboso esercizio quoti diano e ricerca costante del dettaglio diventano priorità assoluta al fine di sviscerare e perfezionare lo stile figurativo utilizzato fino a quel momento e il tutto mediante lo spray. Il trasferimento a Palermo, per proseguire gli studi presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti, porta Rosk e Loste ad avvicinarsi sia alla Scuola pittorica palermitana che ai writers storici che il capoluogo di regione ospita: le vibrazioni e il movimento artistico tipico ed affascinante della città non può che travolgerli ed è qui che, per la prima volta, espongono con una per sonale. La partecipazione ad eventi in giro per l’Italia e per l’Europa spalanca loro le porte di un circuito artistico internazionale ottenendo, così, le prime commissioni da parte di famose realtà come il marchio Ceres, Stella McCartney e il progetto ministeriale Inward. Vivono all’interno della Farm Cultura! Park per circa un anno, ma ciò non li porta di certo a fermarsi, anzi: è proprio adesso che la loro arte varca l’oceano arrivando fino in Brasile e in Messico. La mission fondamentale del graffito per i due artisti è quella che tende a riqualificare, rinnovare, scovare la bellezza ovunque, anche dove sembra non ce ne sia affatto, è per questo motivo che la loro pittura trova conforto all’interno dei quartieri dal tessuto urbano degradato come quelli di Napoli o Catania, ma anche gestendo l’immagine di attività e strutture professionali, asserendo così uno stile leggibile e apprezzato da tutti. Indistintamente.  Raffigurazioni  oniriche,  ritratti, still-life sovrapposti tra loro in una miscellanea di sfumature cromatiche sempre nuove: sono questi i soggetti scelti da Rosk e Loste, rappresentati con grande precisione nei dettagli senza mai tralascia re il lato poetico insito nella loro pittura.

Two Sicilian artists who use the graffiti technique to combine figurative painting with street art. They began their artistic journey almost at the same time, bumping into each other for the first time in 2004. 2007 was an important year for both made up of positive partnerships and paintings made for the whole of Sicily and further afield. On their return from a journey to Spain, a meeting with famous artist Belin was to change their way of perceiving painting for ever: a morbid daily exercise and constant search for detail became absolute priorities aimed at examining and perfecting the figurative style they had used to date and all this by means of spray paint. A move to Palermo to continue their studies at Accademia di Belle Arti took Rosk and Loste to a closer look at the Palermo painting school and the historic writers the regional capital hosted: the city’s characteristic and attractive artistic pulsations and movement could not but overwhelm them and it was here that they held their first solo exhibition. Taking part in events around Italy and Europe opened the doors to an international art circuit and thus the first commissions began to arrive from the Ceres brand, Stella McCartney and the Inward ministerial project. They lived in Farm Cultura! Park for around a year but this certainly did not stop them and it was precisely at this time that their art crossed the oceans to Brazil and Mexico. For these two artists graffiti’s fundamental mission is its tendency to renew, redevelop and carve out beauty everywhere even where there is apparently none – and it is for this reason that their painting finds a haven in degraded urban fabrics such as Naples or Catania – but also managing the images of professional activities and structures thus asserting a readable style appreciated by everyone. Whoever they are. Dreamlike depictions, portraits, still lives juxtaposed in a miscellany of always new colour nuances: these are Rosk and Loste’s chosen subjects represented with great precision in their details without ever neglecting the poetic side of their painting.
